A curve is not a promise
The chart holds the annual return constant to explain arithmetic. Real returns arrive in an uneven order and may be negative. A loss near a withdrawal can have a different effect from a loss early in an accumulation plan.
Use scenarios as questions
The lower and higher lines differ by two percentage points. They are not statistical confidence bands, expected market bounds or probability estimates. Try negative returns, a shorter horizon, a pause in deposits and higher fees to see which assumptions matter.
Diversify with purpose
Different holdings can respond differently to events, but diversification cannot remove all risk. Consider time horizon, liquidity needs, concentration, currency exposure and your ability to tolerate losses. Check adviser registration and understand costs before making an investment decision.
Better questions start with reliable guidance.
